Blogger Bawls

It takes a lot of guts to start up a blog. No matter if it’s Business, Personal, or just for fun. You open your self up and speak publicly on what ever the subject matter happens to be. With the way information moves around the tubes being syndicated, resyndicated, twittered, dugg, tagged in what ever sort of app you use…this information has the potential to reach endless eyes. You’ve not much control over once you hit that Publish button. So what do you do say when a reader is offended by your content? Freedom of Speech? I’m American, but chances are that many of my readers are not. How do you respond to negative comments from these “Haters”?

My first instinct is to tell them to Fug Off! I write for a number of blogs, many of you know this, but I have one in particular which is considered mean and offensive….*gasp*… Yes, I am Evil. I host an outlet for a community of like minded people, a blog that I never had any intention of maintaining…and more often then not, I don’t….but when I’m busy not producing The Worst Blog Evahh…the request for that content is there. As I approach my 1 year Blog-day I continue to look for improvements to the blog, to fully turn it over to the community who beg me for more.

Today, I received the 1st comment that I refuse to approve. I’ve always felt that all comments should be heard, but not this time. Not there at least. It has nothing to do with the fact that they attack me personally, and everything to do with the attacks on the designer’s items, which were featured in the post. Rather then just telling people what they should NOT wear, I included a post from another blog I manage, which shows off some options of what they CAN wear. I know you are just dying to know what it said right!?

In response to SL Fashion Police: Flashbacks & Ghost. Posted not once, but TWICE…amateur.

“Those people might dress bad, well bad is an understatement, but I still don’t know what gives you people (nobodies who have no control over how other players spend their money and on what) the right to go around “policing” Second Life. It’s pretty pathetic and comes across as plain rude and immature. Yes I’m one to speak for posting this comment, but for the record,The boots – Nymphaea, are ugly, and are just as bad as anything those people are wearing. I mean have you ever worn a real pair of boots like that in reality? They look nothing like that, and they easily could have been built better. Dress isn’t great eiter. You people should get a life and post about something that matters. This isn’t productive, those fools in the pictures will never even read this site, and you could be blogging (wasting your time) on stuff that is good to wear instead of crap. Though from what I’ve seen on this site, you can’t really tell what’s good. Yup the obvious bad you pick that out great. The GOOD… you don’t pick it out well at all. Glasses on players in SL make them look like real arses btw. Especially when you can’t even correctly shape your avatar. I am done with those though, your too sad and stupid to bother with anymore. Live with your shame and try to do good things with your blogs instead of looking around a computer game for people dressed bad. It isn’t even hard to find people dressed bad and no one has a right to judge like that. Keep your opinions to yourself and work on making your avatars in the upper right of this page, look more pleasing to the eye. Maybe pick up a real fashion magazine too if you are going to try and pull off a look, or better yet be yourself and wear what you want. Fashion magazines are one of the epitomes of evil in this world.”

/me hangs my head in shame as tears stream down my badly shaped cheeks and onto my March 1987 Cosmopolitan. NOT! Get a life! Better yet, Get Some BAWLS and leave a name to such strong minded comments. What a wastes if you aren’t going to be proud about it. Best part ever is that this person happens to live with in 20 miles of me! *Grins*. Bahahaha….maybe we can do lunch?

So what have we learned here today? Other then the fact that this person is insanely jealous of my SLebrity status and my full figured beauty… they seem to have lost their sense of humor and that’s pretty sad. :(

Need More RAM!!

What is the deal with my brain? I know other people suffer from this….it just totally freezes up on me when I try to process to many things at once! How do you reboot it? Can I defrag and make it run better?

I tweeted earlier that I wish I had an expansion slot…more RAM…but maybe I just need to unplug? I mean why stress out trying to process it all at once? I guess I just feel like if I don’t do it all now I might forget or other stuff will come along and it will never get done.

How much data can the average human consume and produce? Is there an algorithm of consumption and production that I am missing?

In unrelated…or perhaps loosely related…news, I received a comment on my bricabox profile that makes no sense. What makes even less sense to me is that I even have a profile! I’ve no idea when I signed up or why! What does this site even do!? Weird.

Monday from HELL!

It’s just past 1:30 in the morning and I just had the most emotionally frustrating day ever. Before I go to bed, which I pretty much did at 7:30pm, I feel like I should get some of this out of my system.

Mondays just plain suck, but today wasn’t going so bad. I had lots of plans for my work day and was looking forward to kicking off the week. I started my day at the Second Life help desk for OnRez then cleared a bunch of support tickets. My Dell Laptop, which is my main PC, decided to start freezing up and being a total jerk! So I decided to finish up before lunch with a post to my daily work blog and run some maintenance while I made lunch starting with diagnostics.

I’ve had had some memory issues with the Dell a few times in the past and just a few weeks back a Technician came out to replace my motherboard and my memory modules…tho only half the memory was replaced because he said he only received 1G and they had ordered two. I usually don’t take advantage of customer support unless I really have to, since I hate sitting on the phone and I never really feel satisfied by the results…not particularly Dell…when I called to custom build this machine I had a great experience and was super happy, but when the diagnostics started freaking out and giving me the exact error I had received, which required the mother board and memory to be replaced… I was PISSED!

So I get my info from the last call and dial customer service. I should have hung up when my call started off with some voice response system that no matter how clear I spoke would not recognize what I was saying when it asked for my Customer ID! So, why wouldn’t they transfer me to an associate *obviously* over seas and extremely uneducated on the product he was supporting.

A call that should have taken 30 min lasted 2 hrs. Not only did it eat up the middle of the afternoon, but it was the most frustrating call ever! The man on the other end of the phone either didn’t understand English AT ALL, or was totally not paying attention to me when I was speaking because he interrupted nearly every sentence I spoke with “I’m sorry?” in the manner of asking me to repeat myself. Horrible! To top it all off… everything that I was instructed to do left me in a worse state then I had begun!

I hung up the phone with a dispatch # and a laptop that functioned for maybe 10 min before completely freezing up and becoming non responsive. I’m not a total idiot when it come to computers. I haven’t kept up with advancements, but I am well aware of the components and functionality. So when I pay for a warrenty and service contract I guess I expect that if I need some service, I should get it.

Well, I undid everything the Dell Dude told me to do and I can run email app and my browser at the same time. Second Life is not happening. My Onrez viewer freezes up after a few mins and becomes non responsive crashing my whole machine. I can’t even load the First Look viewer. Pretty big inconvenience since my job is IN Second Life. Luckily, I am spoiled and I have two computers. My desktop is a Mac Mini, which I mainly use for Media, Communication (AIM/IRC/Skype/Twitter), and my daily calendar. Unfortunately, the Mac does not handle SL’s heavy graphics very well and makes it difficult to be productive in that environment.

Surprisingly I received a message on Twitter from RichardatDELL, who according to his twitter profile is a member of their Digital Media Team, offering some assistance. How nice is that!? I’m actually very impressed to see Dell involved in social media networks, like Twitter…I mean, it’s a given that a portion of the user base would be Dell users as well. I assume he was tipped off by some key word search in Technorati or the likes.

I’ll be sure to report back on my progress, but for now I must sleep. I’ll leave you with this link to Sun of God on Memes.org that Chris Abraham Chat-spammed me with a few min ago. Haven’t watched it all yet ’cause I wanted to finish this post 1st.

Nitey Night!

New Year, New To-Do List!

Why is it that the end of a year always stresses me out? The past two years I’ve become quite a scrooge in the final approach to Christmas, and I just throw my hands in the air and say F-it. I can’t be bothered with the running around and mass amounts of socializing. It used to be so much fun to give and receive gifts, visit with family, and drive around looking at the festive displays of lights in people’s yards.

Then as soon as we get past the Christmas chaos it’s on to the New Year Celebration. Why should I feel like a looser if I don’t have huge plans to get all dressed up and go out partying with friends? I’m quite content with watching the ball drop on TV…and had a blast celebrating with new and old friends from all different time zones in the common area of Second Life. Is this just me getting old or am I insanely lazy? Both maybe, but it’s just not a big deal to me anymore.

I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that my Birthday comes pretty early in the New Year, Jan 6th, and as Christmas and New Years approach, then fly by so does another year of my life. I realize all that I didn’t get to do, things I missed out on, years of my life I can never get back, experiences I’ll never feel/have. It’s pretty depressing, and I’m sure very typical of getting older, but I won’t bore you with the details.

I’m 33 now…I’m at the heaviest weight I’ve ever been…I’m a major procrastinator…I’m feeling very unmotivated to finish things I’ve partially started, or start things I’ve been wanting to for some time…and to top it all off, I think I am loosing my hair! If you are reading all of this I’m sure you are thinking I’m quite a catch! Well, thank gawd it’s a new year! Time to put together my To-Do list of 2008:

#1 Exercise! I’m sure 99% of new years resolutions start off with this one, but this is something I was really looking forward to having time for when I started working for ESC in July. Having the flexibility to make my own schedule I have no excuses not to fit in 30 mins of activity a day and that is the only way I’ll ever fit into my prom dress again!

#2 Leave the House! Yeah, it’s pretty sad that this is even on my list, not to mention in spot #2. I only have a few close friends in the area and it’s rare that our schedules allow for much socializing, but besides that I’ll be heading to our NYC Office once a week (Wed) to work. This is something I am really looking forward to. When you work remotely it’s easy to slip into a hermit like state. I certainly do not want to turn into some crazy cat lady that all the neighborhood kids make stories about cause I never leave my house.

#3 Spend time with my Broads. I think at least three girls trips with my two BFFs this year is a good start…and yes, one of these should be a cruise! I’ll also go as far as promising that these trips will not be pod/tech related (tho wi-fi will be required at each and every destination). The first getaway is already being planned and it looks like we’ll be heading to Foxwoods in CT. The second I predict will take place in New Hampster for a long weekend once the weather gets nice. The cruise? Well, let’s aim for Winter.

#4 Network & Learn! This will require more traveling, preferably with my Broads.
Kicking it off with Podcamp NYC 2.0 in Brooklyn Feb 29th – March 1st.
I would love, love, love to attend SXSW March 7-11th, but it’s totally not in my budget. I’ll stick it in here and hope some one offers to take me as their date ;)
The New Media Expo is a must, happening August 14-16th in Las Vegas – Looks like I’ll be returning just in time for Sheep Retreat Aug 17-22nd Baaah.
And I’m pretty sure I’ll be attending SLCC in Tampa Sept 5-7th. Maybe the Sheep will send me…hint hint.

#5 Grow my brand. To start, a total rework of my blog. It’s a mess right now and I would love to bring all my information in to one main hub. Building off TheDivaRockin.com I plan to incorporate my First Life Podcast, My Second Life Blog – SLFashionPolice, My Twitter, My Seesmic (which I am seriously neglecting), my flickr and anything else I can feed in. It’s the only way I can see to help to simplify my digital presence.

Well, there are a few more Big To-Dos on my list that are Business and Personal…some of which you will come to know about if you follow me in the least…but for now this will do. I really didn’t plan to spend as much time here as I have today, but it’s nice to know I have a place to come when I feel like letting loose :)
See you all soon, virtually or otherwise!
