Hey DD! Thanks for the comments. I realize it is mostly the new users and I can see how they might *think* they are increasing their Friend/Follow #s by behaving this way. I’m here to tell them it’s wrong. So, I suppose my next Twitter Etiquette post will be on how to grow your twitter organically. I’ll be sure to include that this is not Myspace or Friendster – the point is NOT how many friends you have.

I don’t participate in Follow Friday because I believe everyone should follow me and me ALONE! Ok, sometimes you so that they can get the context of what we are talking about. I did notice the re-tweeting of the Follow Friday recommendations which I found to be kinda strange. But, nothing surprises me anymore. Good job updating your blog – now if only we could release that last Broad Cast!

I think you’re right about this… however, consider these two factors:

#followfriday will always display, to other people, the people that value you. Yes , the list gets deluded and pointless when they spam out too many names.

But, the 2nd factor is, lots of people are newer to twitter (rather than older) and they’re in their own pump up mode, or fascinated with features mode. Or simply possibly creating a list for themselves.

But yeah, the # days are mildly annoying and i think people that have been around twitter go less on the #followfriday or #musicmonday over time.
