So, this is my first official Valentine’s Day Single and corporate sent an email out the other day suggesting a Valentine’s Day Survival Guide for both the love struck and the singles… yeah, well let me just say I could have done with out their NOT so helpful suggestions!
They suggested two free events to attend, but both venues are in NYC (a 90 min train ride … on a school night). One event is your typical “Singles Party” and why wouldn’t I want to be surrounded by other singles? Honestly, I don’t know why they don’t just give us our own damned island!?
The other option really irks me…”Bring a picture of your Ex to display on a dart board and unleash your fury. Hit the bull’s eye and win open bar for an hour”. I get that there are plenty of scorned people out there, but honestly? Do I have to be angry and hostile just because I am single? Oh and there will be free Bud Light just for bringing a photo! Ew! They couldn’t pay me to drink that piss!
I’m really disappointed with the negativity directed to us singles on this particular day. Just because there is no one to shower us with kisses, chocolates or cheesy cupid cards does not mean we can’t have a happy Valentine’s Day and celebrate our love of being Single!
That being said, I am toying with the idea of raffling myself off to a luck local for a Valentine’s Day date. I’m still sorting the details in my head and working up the nerve to do it, so maybe this weekend I will get some inspiration and toss up a web page.
Otherwise I’ll be calling the spa and booking myself a nice, long, relaxing massage
