Over the last few months I have been introduced to a variety of new media tools and social networks. As a “recovering” social networking addict, I am weary to jump on any new boats before deciding if I will use the services for sure…that being said, sometimes you really gotta join up and give it a try before you can officially decide if you will use it.
Since joining Twitter (back in February I think) there have been a lot of other similar micro-blogging/life logging site popping up…Jaiku, pownce,even Twitku – which lets you post to Twitter, Jaiku and even Pownce all at once! Some of these have advanced features and better tools even, but my loyalty remains with Twitter.
Well, New Media is growing up and growing fast! In the past month I have joined two more socnets – Utterz, which I guess is best described an audio version of Twitter? Utterz lets me call in and leave a message for anyone willing to listen to retrieve. It also lets me post photos and video, but the main attraction is the audio – I can do audio! I don’t, but I can! heh.
And now Seesmic! I don’t really like the name, but I think I am starting to “get it”. After a week of watching my friend Jeremy play around with it and eventually banning Seesmic from our conversations until I was able to try it out myself, I think I like it. That being said, I don’t think you will see much from me on it. I’m still in the podcasting stone ages…just barely producing enough shows to keep myself from podfading…speaking of which, I totally need to edit last weeks Broad-Cast!
