Announcement: When “RL” & “SL” become one

I’ve been putting it off for about two weeks now…you all know I am a total slacker when it comes to blogging…err…maybe podcasting too…too bad! :)

As of 8:00am Monday, June 18th my Real Life became my Second Life.

For the past year now I have been living in part time pixels. Second Life was just another platform for reaching a potential audience for my podcast…but as soon as I entered the 3D Virtual World and started meeting people….some who already “knew of me” as a podcaster (can you say ego boost?) well, I was hooked!

I started out attending Dance Parties at Podcast associated clubs and islands such as Podcast Island & Podshow Island, soon stumbled onto the Out Of Order Deck where I met Lynette Radio, Bucket Jen & Corey, The Goddess and Banana…from there it sorta snowballed in to a huge network of friends.

I bumped into Gideon Television a few weeks into my adventures. I was with a guy pal from RL and we decided to check out a strip club. Well, I had to see what all the hub-bub was about. :) Gideon was working on a piece for his blog and we started chatting…the rest is history in the making.

One day Gideon mentions that Big Brother was looking to do an extension of their popular reality tv show in Second Life (BBSL). We joked about it and he encouraged me to sign up…being the media whore that I am…I did! Hahaha! We both made it into the house and I was super excited being involved with something like that…the first of it’s kind. Thanks to my friends and the support of acquaintances I had made along my way, I made it 20 days of the 30. I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world…it was a challenge in itself to work a full 8 hr day job, get home and log in for 8 hours in a virtual box! I didn’t get much sleep that month, but I made so many friends and learned a lot about the cultures in SL that I prolly would have never been exposed to otherwise.

After my eviction from Big Brother, I was a little lost. All my friends had gone out and opened up their own islands while I was in the house. Took me a while to figure it all out and ended up building a small studio in SoHo, for Kat my co-host…she just HAD to have a yacht….from there the parties on the beach once a week started up, thus launching my DJing career.

I guess I’ve been pretty lucky in my SL journey. Last month I was given the opportunity to throw some parties for Coke’s Virtual Thirst Competition by my friends at Crayon. They even gave me a seat on the panel to help select the winning entry! It was a blast!

Shortly after I received an email from my friend Johnny Ming asking if I’d be interested in working full time in SL for The Electric Sheep Company and here I am! I resigned from my job of eight yeas as a Project Manager for the implementation of ATM Machines and now I’m a Sheep! :)   Still waiting to be pinched as it all seems so surreal to me still, but I am super excited and looking forward to being a solid member of the company. They have some really talented and passionate people doing lots of fun and creative projects for their clients.

So feel free to look me up if you are ever passing through or planning some vacation time in Second Life. I’d be more than happy to let you crash on my couch! I’ll try and get my act together as far as blogging is concerned and hope that this will at least serve as a means of keeping in touch with all my old friends and co-workers still living in the Real World.

What a nice picture of you. Both of them :)

It’s been amazing to see you grow, and find your place, in both worlds, and to have been a small part of it. I too never realized how meeting someone in the audience of a virtual strip club would have more impact on me than anyone up on the poles :)

Congratulations, and I know from here on out, it only gets better.

Oh wait Gideon, she was in the audience when you met her?? Another myth bites the dust… ;)

Congrats Diva- let us know what you are working on in there so we can check it out and heap praise!

I guess I had assumed that you had been involved in SL much longer than you have been. I love the side-by-side comparison of your RL and SL pictures. Very nice! :)

I’m curious as to what kinds of things you are doing for Electric Sheep. Congrats again (as if I haven’t told you that enough already) *grin*

Yeah, all this Second Life stuff better not interfere with you shaking your ass and stumbling up hill. I mean it – I don’t want to have to disown you.

Wow. It seems that everywhere I turn, people are being hired by the Electric Sheep company. Congradulations. I have yet to catch their attention. Must be sheep envy. hehe.
