Hello Mother, Hello Father, Greetings from Camp Medomak….
So sitting in the “Main Hall” of Medomak Camp in Washington, Maine and it seems that I have found some spare time to write while my hair air dries.
I’d forgotten how drastic the weather can change in this region…as much as I over packed, I certainly could have thrown in a few more heavy weight blankets to prevent the frost bite that was nipping my ass last night.
For the first time since taking up employment with the Sheep, I am meeting my co-workers which is exciting and scary at once. Exciting to make meat-space small talk with the pixel drivers I interact with on a daily. Scary when that small talk is so over my head that I feel like such a fool for not knowing better. Oh well…I guess in retrospect they prolly don’t know as much as I do about this season’s Lancome colors or that the belt should match the shoes.
Over all tho, I am now starting to feel much more like a piece of this big puzzle and realizing how my personal style and uniqueness can be applies to benefit the team.
The next few days will be filled with networking, bonding, education, collaboration, laughs and hopefully some cocktails to really mix things up! Did I mention that we are in the woods of Maine? Despite the initial fears of not having internet access or cell phone service it’s shaping up to be the perfect environment for an employee retreat. The staff here are great too….so far no complaints. I even managed the 1.5 hr hiking tour over the hills and thru the woods with minimal exhaustion and no broken bones! Guess all those years of Girl Scouts prepped me enough for this moment in my life….no off to rub some sticks together and make fire….ummm…on second thought – I did not pack a fire extinguisher, so best I not tempt fate and piss off Smokey.
TTFN…will write more as my schedule and thoughts allow.
