Fatty Friday – Minus!

Yay!!!! At this week’s weigh-in I was down just under 2lbs!! This brings me to just over 1lb total lost for the 3 weeks since joining Weight Watchers, which I know isn’t really anything to be too proud of, but I’m just glad I was minus this week.

I’ve started adding more salads to my daily meal plans which are easy to toss together and at the movies last week I packed a baggie of carrot sticks in place of popcorn!

I also attended my first Zumba class last week and discovered that I have way less coordination than I thought and my feet are far from Latin when it comes to moving….think Elaine from Seinfeld trying to dance. It was a lot of fun though and I am looking forward to going again.

Something else I am excited about are the new Kellogg’s FiberPlus Antioxidant Bars in Caramel Coconut Fudge. Recommended by Hungry Girl as a swap for the Girl Scout’s Samoas cookies!!! I guess word must have gotten out because there were only TWO boxes left on the shelf at the super market when I nabbed one. I haven’t tried them yet, but they look really good and knowing how good the other flavors are I am sure they will rock.

In other food news… I went out to eat at Applebee’s and was happy to see they had Weight Watcher’s PointsPlus values on a few of their menu items now and “skinny bee” margaritas and mojitos on the liquor menu. I have never been a fan of Applebee’s but you can’t really go wrong with liquor and the skinny mojito was pretty good!!

For my entree I had some paradise chicken salad which was listed at only 8 points. I wouldn’t order it again. I don’t know if they ran out of lettuce or if the dish is supposed to be lacking, but there were only about 6 pieces of real lettuce in my “salad”. The majority of the dish was chicken and cabbage. I certainly don’t mind cabbage and the chicken was tasty, but I would have traded half my chicken for 3 times more lettuce.

So over all a good week and hopefully the upcoming week will bring more good choices in what I put in my mouth. Maybe I’ll even get my butt back in the gym and rack up some activity points so I can splurge on a small McDonald’s Shamrock Shake for a whopping 15 points!! … AKA 3-on hour Zumba classes!

Fatty Friday – WTF was I thinking!?

First off I know it’s not Friday, but I was bed-bound yesterday and couldn’t bring myself to put a proper post together.

Now on to business… Someone please tell me what the F*@% I was thinking joining Weight Watchers. I’m an emotional eater and my trigger is stress and it just so happens I have the most stressful job on the planet right now!!

Weigh-in on Wednesday went as expected… I gained. I let myself indulge just a little more than I should have over the weekend with the Boyfriend. I blame him…. and the half tub of popcorn I ate for dinner Tuesday night at the movies.I suppose just because you skip your regular meal gives you no excuse to stuff your face with buttery goodness.

On a positive note my local supermarket was having a sale on Weight Watchers SmartOnes frozen meals this week! Their turkey medallions dinner was tasty and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of roasted potatoes in the dish! At only 6 PointsPlus values I’ll def. be picking up a few more of these.

As a treat I grabbed a box of key lime pies and while they are delicious, they have 5 PointsPlus values per serving, which is a little more than I would like to consume on a dessert, but the fresh strawberries just weren’t looking to fab.

So maybe I will be down this week and maybe I wont, but one thing is sure… I’m not going to stress out about it! Gawd knows I have enough of that already pushing me to find the nearest coffee shop and consume a half dozen cupcakes!!

Fatty Friday – My Weight Watchers Life-it

As some of you are aware, last week I joined Weight Watchers. My office has an on-site weekly meeting and I figured it was time to step up my game and give some serious effort to improving my eating habits. It didn’t hurt to know that many friends were also on the plan, it even amped me up a lil 🙂

So, on Wed 2/16 I weighed in for the 1st time ever. I was actually expecting to have put on more than I did over the Holidays, so I guess I can chalk that up as a good start, right?

I’m on the new Points Plus program which means I can eat all the fresh fruits and veggies I want for no points! The first few days went well for me, I was eating lots more veggies and fruits than usual and didn’t really miss out on the not so good snacking. Over the weekend I indulged a bit and tapped into my extra points to consume a few beers 🙂

So far, so good… but Monday my appetite was out of control! There were not enough points in the world to fill me up. UGH. I was so not prepared, but I managed to stay under target.

Along comes Wed and it’s time to hit the scale. I was so stressed out! I have no idea why, but it was to the point I gave myself a migraine!! Yeah, crazy… I ended up 0.9lbs less than last week (I’m thinking I should have taken my belt off to push me over). It’s a loss and that is a win in my book!

Last night I stopped at the store and picked up a few “Weight Watchers” food items. This morning I tried the Ham & Egg breakfast sandwich, which really wasnt that bad, but I think I could do better making it on my own for the same points value or less given the time to do so. I suppose when it comes to the convenience it’s a good quick grab to nom in the car on my way to work 🙂

I can see I am going to have to find a nice little scale and buy up a bunch of food containers for portioning out my meals real soon. I got a lot of great tips out of this weeks meeting so I am hoping for an even bigger win next week! … and who knows, maybe I can even find the motivation to get back to my regular gym routine, which I so desperately need.

To those who are reading who have been on the plan or recently started what are some of your favorite meals and recipes?
